In June 2017, Vivo a subsidiary of Chinese tech giant BBK Electronics showcased the under display fingerprint scanning technology at MWC Shanghai. It was then demonstrated on the Vivo Xplay6 and is expected to hit the mainstream market with the Vivo Xplay7. However, the corporation might soon launch the new versions of Vivo X20 and X20 Plus smartphones with the under display fingerprint scanners.
