How to Apply for INDIAN Passport from home, Online

An Indian passport is a passport issued by order of the President of India to Indian citizens for the purpose of international travel. It enables the bearer to travel internationally and serves as proof of Indian citizenship as per the Passports Act (1967). The Passport Seva (Passport Service) unit of the Consular, Passport & Visa (CPV) Division of the Ministry of External Affairs, functions as the central passport organisation, and is responsible for issuing Indian passports on demand to all eligible Indian citizens. Indian passports are issued at 93 passport offices located across India and at 162 Indian diplomatic missions abroad.

Get start to step by step how to apply passport online

Step 1 -Register the passport seva online protal create your login id & password. ( Register Now)

 Step 2- login to the passport seva online protal & click “Apply for Fresh Passport /Re-issue of Passport”

Step 3- Fill in the Required details in the from (INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING OF PASSPORT APPLICATION FORM AND SUPPLEMENTARY FORM )

Step 4– Click View Saved/Submitted Applications.

Step 5- You’ll see the application you just submitted. Click the button next to it and click Pay and Schedule Appointment.

Step 6– A list of Passport Seva Kendras from your city will appear on screen along with the date and time of the earliest available appointment. Select one of these from the drop-down menu next to PSK Location. Click Pay and Book Appointment.

Step 7-This will now take you to the payment gateway. Complete your payment and you’ll be redirected to the Passport Seva website.

Step 8-Now you’ll see a page titled Appointment Confirmation with all the details of your appointment at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).

Step 9– click the print Application Receipt link to print the application receipt containing Application Reference Number (ARN)/Appointment Number.

Step 10-You will need a print of this receipt to enter the Passport Seva kendra (PSK)/ Regional Passport Office (PRO).visit the (PSK)/(PRO) where Appointment has been booked,along with original document.

Note :

  • Only emergency / medical cases and preapproved categories may visit PSK without appointment.service will be provided at the discretion of PSK in charge /passport officer.
  • In case of minor application (below 4 years of age), carry the recent passport size photograph (4.5 *3.5 cm) with white background.
  • Resubmission of application from is required,in case the application dose not visit the PSK within 90 days from the online from submission.

Fees :

  • ₹1500 – Fresh issuance or renewal of passport (36 pages, standard size) with 10 year validity.
  • ₹2000 – Fresh issuance or renewal of passport (60 pages, ‘jumbo’ size) with 10 year validity.
  • ₹3500 – First time applicant or renewal with expedited (‘tatkaal’) service (36 pages) with 10 year validity.
  • ₹4000 – First time applicant or renewal with expedited (‘tatkaal’) service (60 pages) with 10 year validity.
  • ₹1000 – Fresh passport issuancefor minors (below 18 years of Age) with 5 year validity or till the minor attains the age of 18, whichever is earlier.
  • ₹3000 – Duplicate passport (36 pages) in lieu of lost, damaged or stolen passport.
  • ₹3500 – Duplicate passport (60 pages) in lieu of lost, damaged or stolen passport.
